SIDE SHOW
Tales of the Big Top and the Bizarre

(these guidelines are short so please read them in their entirety)

How to submit:

Type Side Show and the title of your submission in the subject line and email to:
SideShowAntho@hotmail.com

Include the following with every single submission:

1. Your name, address, and email address should appear at the top of your
submission.

2. Your bio should include:
a) a sentence or two about how you got the idea for your story or poem, what
inspired you, or why you wrote it, etc.
b) a sentence or two about your interest in horror or the type of horror you write
c) a sentence or two that includes interesting information about yourself and where
youāre from.
Do not include publication credits or website URLs in your bio, and write your
bio as though itās coming from your editor.

3. Include a word count (story) or a line count (poem).

4. Type your byline under the title of your story or poem.

5. If your story or poem has been previously published, let me know where and
when so Iām able to give credit where credit is due. The place to put this
information is at the end of your submission in brackets, two lines below your
story or poem. For Example:

(Death on the Midway first appeared in the USA in 1990 in Macabre Stories)

What to submit:

The key word to remember is ćentertainment.ä I want bizarre horror stories and
poems about the circus, travelling shows, carnival rides and games, sideshows and
freaks, funhouses, midgets, gypsies and fortune tellers, or whatever your
imagination dictates. Iām especially interested in work that is convincing or
believable, even if itās way over the top. Unique locations and eccentric or
unusual characters are a plus. Atmosphere is equally important, as is a unique
title.

Send horror stories single spaced with a double space between pararaphs (500 to
3,000 words) in the body of an email - no attachments please.

Send horror poems single spaced (30 to 100 lines) in the body of an email - no
attachments. I prefer non-rhyming poetry - if it rhymes, it has to rock my world.
If the rhyme is forced, donāt send it.

Multiple Submissions:

I will publish more than one piece by the same author but please send one story or
one poem per email and wait for a response to your submission before sending
another.

Cover Art:

Iād like a crisp black and white photograph or illustration that shows some aspect
of the theme Side Show: Tales of the Big Top and the Bizarre (Suggestions:
an evil clownās face, freaks, a creepy circus tent, bizarre booths on the midway, an
evil looking gypsy fortune teller, a gypsy wagon or caravan that advertises a
travelling show, or anything horrific you feel is appropriate). Submit a JPEG, no
larger than 50k in the body of an email. If your image is accepted, you will be
asked to resubmit it in a resolution of 300 dpi. The cover artist will receive one
contributorās copy of the book.

Response Times:

You can expect a response to your submission in less than a week. Please wait for
a response before sending another submission.

Deadline:

Although Iām hoping to have enough material to close the anthology by the end of
August 2002, the anthology will close when filled.

Payment:

This will be a print on demand book funded by James B. Baker and published by
iUniverse. Each participant will receive one copy of the book, regardless of how
many stories and poems you have in the anthology.

All submissions and queries are to be addressed editor Cathy Buburuz at this email
address only:

ARTIST WANTED

I am currently seeking a talented illustrator to bring my comic book script to life. It is a modern adult-oriented theme with a very original story.

Ideally I would like someone who'd be interested in going partners and helping me submit the finished product for publication. I would consider commisioning someone if the price is reasonable.

If interested drop a line at
