If you’re publishing books, journals, conference proceedings or research reports, involve BBR at any point in your production process – our service is tailored to your individual requirements.
Our staff are educated to degree or postgraduate level in languages, literature, social sciences and engineering, and recent projects have seen us working in fields as diverse as materials processing, history, English literature, healthcare, gerontology, Korean studies, and natural history.
We’re not afraid to ask the big question or point out if a job might benefit from some rigorous critical thinking – we can just be Mac Monkeys if that’s all you need, but we’d much rather be part of a team proactively working to make your project the best it can be.
Proofreading and copy-editing
If you’re a pedant for apostrophes, or you cringe at crap hyphenation, then we’d like to work for you. When it comes to preparing manuscripts for publication, we’ll tackle anything from ‘typo racing’ to full rewrites. We’ll work to your established house style, work with you to create a new one, or take our well-thumbed copy of the Chicago Manual as default. Consistency and accuracy are our particular bugbears, which makes us perfect for knocking multi-author volumes into shape, or bringing the best out of inexperienced authors.
Page design and make-up
We’re passionate about typography, and have a reputation for creating clean and elegant layouts in both single and full colour. We specialise in bespoke typesetting for book publishers, so we’re comfortable with anything from simple single-column bookwork to more complex projects such as engineering conference proceedings or wildlife distribution atlases. Printing and binding
We can supply digital artwork for your usual printer, or arrange for printing as part of the package. As we’re not tied to any one supplier, we shop around in the UK and internationally on your behalf for the printer best suited to a particular job, in terms of price, quality, and ability to meet deadlines.
